Welcome Back, Coach Ryan Marsden
The Trojans are excited to welcome Coach Ryan Marsden back as he takes over the men’s volleyball program as Head Coach heading into the 2026-27 season
Marsden brings over 25 years of elite coaching experience and a proven track record of success at the provincial, collegiate, national, and international levels. His extensive resume includes head coaching roles within the ACAC at Olds College and SAIT, along with additional collegiate experience at Mount Royal University and the University of Alberta. He has also coached on the international stage with Team Canada’s Junior Men’s National Team and Men’s National B Team.
“We are extremely excited to have Coach Marsden join the Trojans after a 10+ year hiatus,” said Lauren Kucera, Manager of Athletics & Recreation. “He is a coach who sees his athletes as whole people and is committed to developing them both on and off the court. On top of that, he knows how to win, and we are thrilled to bring his talent back to SAIT.”
Throughout his career, Marsden has consistently built winning programs—most notably transforming Olds College from a 0–24 record into an ACAC playoff team in just three seasons. He is a multi-time Coach of the Year recipient and has led teams to national championships, Canada Games gold medals, and international podium finishes.
Beyond the accolades, Marsden is known for his passion, leadership, and commitment to athlete development. His philosophy centers on setting high standards, fostering a culture of care, and helping athletes reach their full potential both on and off the court.
“Train and play to win. That’s my philosophy,” said Coach Marsden. “I am beyond thrilled to bring my passion, desire, and love for the game of volleyball to the Trojans. I plan to set high goals and work with each individual to help them achieve those goals. I can’t wait to get started!”
Coach Marsden will officially begin with the Trojans on April 10 and will be hosting ID camps on April 16 and April 25. Be sure to check out the Trojans Instagram for registration details.
We are excited to have Ryan back leading the Trojans and look forward to the impact his experience, energy, and vision will bring to our program.
